Chairman
Gareth Miller
Senior Planning Co-Ordinator for a local toy distribution company since April 2004. Interests away from SUFC include playing football (badly!), geography, travelling and socialising with friends and family. Gareth was the driving force in setting up the trust in 2006 and has led the way ever since. Also SUFC Youth Team secretary and our current representative on the SUFC Management Committee.
Vice-Chairman
Paul Chalmers
Working as an electrician in London for more than 10 years. When not supporting the U’s, Paul enjoys spending his spare time with his wife Kelly and & their children Maya and Logan, playing poker, horse racing, playing football. Paul has previously served as both our treasurer and also ably led the trust for a year when our Chairman Gareth spent some time abroad travelling in 2010.
Secretary
- Vacant-
Club Liaison
Adrian Barry
A 48 year old Sales Director with a Reader Holiday tour operator. Enjoys spending his spare time with his wife & two children, following various sports and writing. He is also a keen golfer, having played Sunday football and cricket for over 20 years. Adrian’s position as our first point of contact with the club made him the natural choice to act as SUST’s representative on the Football Club board when the position was offered in late 2010. Has also sat as our representative on the SUFC Management Committee.
Treasurer
Dave Rayner
A former Treasury Settlements Officer at Barclays Bank. Has not long retired and apart from following the U’s, he likes most sports and enjoys live music, being a regular at the ‘Boom Boom Club’ in the Times Square Lounge at GGL. Dave spends most of his time devoted to SUST matters chasing up Tony for numerous receipts and ensuring our books all balance perfectly!
Membership Secretary/Fundraising
Kelly Chalmers
Full time mum and part time mortgage advisor. Married to our vice-chairman Paul and enjoys walking, cycling, socialising, writing (poetry) and cooking when not watching the U’s as well as looking after their children Maya & Logan. When not arranging entertaining fundraising & social events, she also doubles as our membership secretary.
Council Liasion
John James
A 56 year old married father of 2, John has lived in Sutton for 30 years and supported the U’s through ‘thin and thin’ in that time! Very recently retired from his position at the London Fire Brigade, heading up their occupational health unit. Also a keen Arsenal fan, he apparently would like to meet Martin Luther King and achive world peace! Formerly our Community Liasion man, John now acts as our point of contact with the local council for community matters. Another key player in assisting the club in attaining it’s FA Community Charter status in early 2011 as well as being heavily involved with the Football Development Plan.
Community Liasion
Tony Henderson-Smith
A retired former councillor in Croydon, Tony was ‘persuaded’ to stand for the board by our Chairman Gareth. Tony heads our Community activities as well as also being heavily involved in the SUFC Football Development Plan. Was also a key player in ensuring the club attained FA Community Charter status in early 2011. When not being chased by Dave for reciepts, Tony enjoys socialising and is a regular visitor to SUFC's 'Boom Boom' club.
Vice Presidents Co-Optee
John Lowe (VP’s committee member)
Retiree John now fills his time as Hon Treasurer of the SUFC Vice Presidents Committee and playing bowls at Rose Hill Bowls Club in Sutton. By far the longest ‘serving’ fan on the board having been watching the U’s since 1946! He’s also a member of the legendary ‘Tuesday Team’, GGL’s own dedicated band of handymen (and women) who keep the place looking presentable throughout the on and off seasons.
Supporters Club Co-Optee
Alison Denyer (Supporters Club Chairperson)
Aged 30 ’something’ (apparently!) Alison is a Tech\Admin Support for Interserve, a company dealing in Special events in conjunction with the Met Police for the last 10 years. Also a part-time barmaid at SUFC, she enjoys live music and socialising in her spare time. Alison’s main involvement at Sutton however is running the Supporters Club and it’s shop on matchdays.
